According to the EPA, Textile waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the United States…occupying nearly 5% of all landfill space. The U.S. throws away 36 billion pounds of textiles each year…that is 100 pounds per person. Of those discarded textiles, currently only 15% is recycled, but 95% could be.
Trumbull offers both drop off and curbside pickup options for recycling textiles, keeping textiles out of the trash. Items can be wearable or worn and will be sorted and either donated for reuse, repurposed, or recycled.
Bay State Textile Recycling Program
The Bay State Textile Recycling Program offers a solution to divert unwanted textiles such as fabric, clothing, and shoes away from the solid waste stream.
Items should be clean and bagged.
