The Town of Trumbull announces a parade-theme contest for any student in grade 6-7-8 and a resident of the Town of Trumbull. Can you create a theme for our parade banner, centered around the meaning of Memorial Day, to be carried in our 2026 Memorial Day Parade?
If your theme is selected, the town will create a banner containing your theme, your name, grade, and school and you will march behind your banner, along with the Grand Marshal, in the 2026 Memorial Day Parade! Bring your family to march with you, and then view the parade from the reviewing stand with the First Selectman and other government dignitaries. The veteran organizations will have a surprise for you as well.
Put on your thinking caps, do some research into the true meaning behind Memorial Day, and come up with a theme to express the meaning behind Memorial Day and its significance. Last year's theme was "Today We Honor the Price of Freedom and Those Who Paid It." The previous year, "May We Never Forget That Freedom Isn't Free" was the theme.
How exciting to march, carry a banner you created, and view the parade from the reviewing stand with the First Selectman!
Please submit your entry by May 1, 2026.
