Volunteer Opportunities
Adult Volunteering
We are delighted that you are interested in volunteering at the Trumbull Library. Our adult volunteers help with shelf maintenance by keeping the library collection in proper order. We are looking for volunteers that can come in one day per week for up to 2 hours per visit and a minimum of twice per month. Adult volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Teen Volunteering
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Trumbull Library System. Our teen volunteer program is for students ages 12 - 17.
Teens are encouraged to email Mrs. Landon at CLandon@trumbull-ct.gov with:

After receiving your email, Mrs. Landon will reach out to schedule an interview. If approved, you will be expected to read and sign our Volunteer Guidelines and Expectations Form before being allowed to sign up for hours.
Volunteers will be refreshed on a quarterly basis:
September-November
December-February
March-May
**June-August
This means that at the start of every quarter, volunteers who have: not met the minimum requirements to remain in the program, aged out, or have met their volunteer quota will be removed from the program to give opportunities to other students. Volunteers must volunteer for a minimum of 3 hours per quarter to remain in the volunteer program.

We are currently CLOSED for the Sept-Nov quarter. Please check back the first week of December.
The library will do its best to fulfill up to 20 hours per year per volunteer - this is to ensure the greatest number of teens are able to meet the minimum requirement for high school graduation. **Due to greater need in the summer months, more hours will be offered then.
If you need more than 20 hours we can discuss on a case by case basis, but the library cannot guarantee hours in any circumstance. Hours are on a first come, first serve basis.
Volunteers are expected to show up for the shifts they sign up for. If you cannot make a shift, please notify the Children’s Department or cancel your volunteer spot at least 24 hours in advance, or as soon as possible, if you cannot attend. If your absence is due to a foreseeable event, such as a scheduled vacation or camp, please inform us as soon as you become aware you are no longer available. Failure to appear for any of your shifts without properly informing Children’s Department staff shall result in a warning. An additional unexcused absence will result in your removal from the volunteer program.
