Trumbull residents can use their library cards to access digital content, including eBooks, audiobooks, comics, magazines, and more, on their personal devices.

Hoopla Update

Due to budget constraints and rising costs, we are implementing a gradual reduction in monthly Hoopla borrows over the next few months:

  • October: 5 borrows per month
  • November: 4 borrows per month
  • December: 3 borrows per month

Over the last few years, local demand for digital library materials—particularly eBooks and eAudiobooks—has grown rapidly. Unfortunately, the pricing models set by vendors and publishers make it increasingly difficult for libraries to sustainably meet rising demand. Hoopla operates on a cost-per-borrow pricing model, which means the library is charged a fee every single time a patron checks out an item. Because costs are tied directly to daily usage, this model is highly unpredictable. It forces us to make difficult decisions between funding an ever-escalating digital platform or developing other essential library collections.

To manage these rising costs while continuing to offer Hoopla, we must implement cost-saving measures to stabilize our budget. We deeply appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we navigate these difficult decisions.
