Trumbull First Selectman appoints Robert Wright, Jr. to Fill Town Treasurer Post
TRUMBULL — Trumbull First Selectman Raymond G. Baldwin, Jr. announced today that he is appointing Robert Wright, Jr. to fill the position of town Treasurer.
Wright succeeds Anthony Musto, who was elected to the State Senate last November. During Musto’s campaign, he stated he would resign the treasurer’s position if he won. He resigned yesterday.
In making the announcement, Baldwin said, “Bob Wright not only has a keen financial sense and outstanding business acumen, but he is also an individual whose character and trustworthiness are above reproach.”
Baldwin continued, “Trumbull has been fortunate in recent years to have had excellent individuals serving as treasurer, such as Anthony Musto, John Malfetone and Bill Dunn, and I believe Bob is in the same mold.”
Prior to Wright’s new appointment, he was employed by the Insurance Company of North America/CIGNA from 1979 to 1980 and has been with The Wright Company, Insurance from 1980 to present.
Wright holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Fairfield University.
Included in his municipal activities and volunteerism are:
1998-2001 - Trumbull Police Commission Member, Chairman 2000-2001.
1987-1996 - Elected Member of the Trumbull Town Council, Chairman 1994-1996.
Trumbull Economic Development Commission Member.
He has been active in many community organizations, including but not limited to: Trumbull United Soccer Club, Trumbull Little League, Trumbull Exchange Club, Trumbull Town Council, Trumbull Police Commission, AYSO, Trumbull Economic Development, and Professional Insurance Agents.
Regarding his new responsibilities, Wright said, “I have been a resident of Trumbull for more than 50 years and involved in business and financial issues throughout my entire business career. I am very excited that this opportunity allows me to draw upon my many diverse experiences to serve the residents of Trumbull.”
