Trumbull Monroe Health District Announces H1N1 Vaccine Availability to General Public
Trumbull, CT (December 29, 2009)-The Trumbull Monroe Health District is scheduling appointments for the H1N1 vaccine to residents of all ages according to a directive from the Connecticut Department of Public Health (CTDPH).
Residents who are interested in receiving H1N1 vaccine are urged to call the Trumbull Monroe Health District at 452-5195 during regular office hours between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, to schedule their appointment: Healthy individuals aged 24 months through 49 years that are not pregnant are eligible to receive the Nasal Mist form of the vaccine. There is no cost associated with the vaccine. A parent or legal guardian is required to sign the consent form for a minor to be vaccinated.
“The clinics will continue until all residents who are interested in receiving vaccine have been vaccinated,” states Patrice Sulik, Director of Health. First Selectmen Tim Herbst and Steve Vavrek encourage residents to follow preventive practices such as frequent hand washing, covering your cough and staying home from work and school when you are ill. This will help to keep others in the community from getting ill as the vaccination effort continues.
Residents can also check with their primary care physicians as well as local pharmacies who also may be administering the H1N1 vaccine. For up-to-date information on H1N1 vaccine availability, call the Health District or visit trumbullct.qscend.com or www.monroect.org.
