[ARCHIVED] 2019-01-14 Teen Robbed at Trumbull Mall

A Bridgeport teen was attacked and robbed while shopping at the Westfield Trumbull mall on Saturday afternoon. 

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, at about 5:30 p.m., Trumbull officers were patrolling the mall when they saw a fight break out between several teenaged males in the Target department store. The officers were able to break up the melee and apprehend two of the suspects as they attempted to flee. 

The victim of the attack told the officers that the group of five or six males approached him as he walked into Target and asked him if he was talking about someone they knew. The victim did not know what they were talking about and responded “no.” The group then jumped the victim, punching him several times. As he was being assaulted, one of the males stole money from his pants pocket. The victim received minor injuries during the incident. T

he male who had stolen the money was one of the teens stopped by the officers. The money was recovered and returned to the victim. Officers searched the mall for the other teens, but they could not be located. 

One 14-year-old was charged with Robbery 3rd, Assault 3rd, Larceny 6th , and Breach of Peace. A second teen, a 15-year old, was charged with Assault 3rd and Breach of Peace. Both are from Bridgeport and were released to their parents. They are scheduled to appear in court on January 23, 2019.
