Statement by First Selectman Timothy M. Herbst Regarding the Tragedy This Past Weekend in Arizona
First Selectman Timothy M. Herbst offered the following statement regarding the tragic shooting from this past weekend in Tucson, Arizona:
“Today, at 11:00 AM, the employees of the Town of Trumbull joined the rest of the nation in observing a moment of silence to pay our respects to those that lost their lives in the terrible tragedy in Arizona this past weekend. We also offer our thoughts and prayers to those that were wounded and are recovering from their injuries. I want to take this opportunity to personally offer my thoughts and prayers to Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her family.
I also wish to offer thanks and praise to the brave men and women of Tucson, who subdued the gunman. If these brave people did not take action to stop this terrible act, there would have been further loss of life.
The events of this weekend underscore the need for all of us to be vigilant and resolute in our commitment to rid the world of senseless violence.”
