[ARCHIVED] 3/20/2011 - Participate in Tidy Up Trumbull

Trumbull Community Women
Tidy Up Trumbull 2011

To Trumbull Residents and Group leaders,

Trumbull Community Women are once again organizing Tidy Up Trumbull.  2011 marks our tenth year and we would love to get as many people involved as possible. We are looking for residents, business and groups that would like to participate.  This year we are going to focus on one day of work, April 9th.  Projects will be held in the morning between 9 and noon, capped off by a celebration from noon to 1:30pm at one of the town parks.  It is an earlier date than previous years with the goal of not interfering with the school vacation and little league season.

Businesses or school groups that want to work during the school/work week can still participate.  Just let us know your interest and we will get your project on the schedule.  We are targeting the week of April  4-9 if possible.  What is most important is that many groups participate.

TCW works with the Parks Dept, Public Works, the Beautification Commission and the First Selectman and police to guarantee success for the whole project.  We provide garbage bags  (and work gloves when available).

Get involved and TCW will help as follows:

1.    If you know of an area you would like to work on, we will put it on the master schedule to eliminate site duplication and to assure proper trash disposal.

2.    If you don’t have a work site or project in mind, we can recommend one or have you join another group.

3.    We can assist in coordinating several groups on one larger project.

4.    We will offer a $25 matching grant to the first 8 groups who want to do plantings.

We look forward to another successful year for Tidy Up Trumbull.  Any suggestions you have are welcome.  If you know of someone who might be interested in participating, whether a group leader or a concerned citizen, please have them call Monica at 203-209-5462.  Some of the work projects will be coordinated by TCW and we will be looking for volunteers. This is a great opportunity for teens to earn community service hours.

If your group would like to take on a project, please contact us ASAP:  Contact Monica Leggett:  203-209-5462 or with information about your group (#, ages, type of project you’d like).
