Paul S. Lavoie has been appointed to replace Board of Finance Vice Chairman Mark Smith on the board, following Smith’s resignation. First Selectman Timothy M. Herbst announced Lavoie, a current member of the Board of Assessment Appeals, Monday morning.
“Paul has an impressive background,” Herbst said. “He has built a successful business while being an active member of the Trumbull community. Paul understands that we can provide quality town services and an excellent school system while stabilizing the tax rate. I know that Paul has the skills, judgment and background to be an outstanding Board of Finance member.”
Lavoie expressed enthusiasm about joining the board and expressed confidence in the future.
“I am grateful to Tim for giving me this opportunity to serve,” he said. “I hope to use my business background and strong ties to the Trumbull community in serving our citizens and taxpayers well.
Lavoie said Trumbull is facing numerous challengers, “But I am confident that working together, we will continue to make Trumbull a desirable community of choice.”
Lavoie is owner of Response Marketing, a New Haven-based company. He is responsible for the business development, finance, administration and human resources functions for the agency.
Prior to owning his own business, Lavoie was the president of Action Business Advisors, a strategic consulting firm, and the owner of a business coaching franchise. He was one of the top coaches in North America and is recognized as a business growth expert.
Lavoie’s background includes executive positions at publicly traded and privately held organizations. His past positions include general manager of American Payment Solutions, Senior Vice President of Retail Marketing at ActMEDIA and Vice President of Sales at Productivity Solutions.
Lavoie serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Bridgeport Junior Hockey Association, the Charitable Hands Foundation, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he was the founding president of the Tashua Elementary School Fathers Club and has served on the Academic Excellence Committee.
Lavoie and his wife, Cindy, live in Trumbull with their four children, all of whom have attended the Trumbull Public Schools.
