Winter Storm Stella message, sent via Trumbull Citizen Alert - Monday, March 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM:
Good afternoon. This is First Selectman Tim Herbst calling to share important information about the impending Winter Storm Stella. Heavy and significant snow will begin overnight tonight causing hazardous driving conditions throughout the day. Residents should avoid travelling and remain off the roads as severe conditions are likely limit the Town’s ability to clear town streets.
For this reason, effective at noon today, I have declared a ‘State of Emergency’ for the Town of Trumbull. A Parking Ban will be in effect beginning at 11:00 PM tonight, until further notice.
The storm may cause power outages; outages should be reported to United Illuminating at 1-800-722-5584. Downed trees or power lines should be reported to 911.
If you are need of shelter, please reach out to family and friends, or dial 211 for a list of shelter facilities in the area.
Residents are also reminded of the importance of keeping heating and furnace vents clear of snow to maintain adequate ventilation, and remember to keep fire hydrants accessible. Please also remember to check on the elderly and disabled to be sure they are safe.
