Welcome back to the new school year.  I want to let you know about a program that was created in 2023 through a collaboration between Trumbull High School and the Mary J.  Sherlach Counseling Center.

The group is called Students Leaving A Mark (S.L.A.M). Their mission is focusing on creating a supportive and inclusive environment in their community. They are dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and self-worth, cultivating leadership and encouraging community enrichment.

The group has now become a completely peer initiated, and peer led youth leadership group that is facilitated by myself and Jeroy Smith.  Each year S.L.A.M admits new members that will be trained through a training provided by Dylans Wings of Change.

They are looking for committed high school students who are passionate about improving themselves and others through community involvement.  I am reaching out to you because I think you may have some students in mind that might be a good fit.  We are looking for students with leadership potential that can be fostered in a supportive environment. Please feel free to make recommendations and pass on the information.

The next training will be held on October 15, 2025.  In order to be considered for this training applicants need to submit a questionnaire created by the existing members of the S.L.A.M group.

Please find a S.L.A.M. flyer here.  The application can also be reached with this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScdxubf2QSNZ2B7mAPj9uvYYAl4c19FnDEaihAWo7rtXcN2oA/viewform?edit_requested=true

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your support of SLAM’s mission.
