WHEREAS, Today we recognizes and proclaim the month of June 2023 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and others (LGBTQ+) “Pride Month”; and
WHEREAS, the Stonewall Riots of June 28, 1969 gave birth to the international gay rights movement and galvanized the LGBTQ+ community to fight back against increasing hostility and discrimination, and
WHEREAS, all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. LGBTQ individuals have had immeasurable impact on the cultural, civic and economic successes of our country and are an integral part of Connecticut’s population; and
WHEREAS, the rainbow flag is widely recognized as a symbol of pride, inclusion, and support for social movements that advocate for LGBTQ+ people in society; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Trumbull believes that every human being has the right to live their life openly as who they are and today we celebrate the history and diversity of our town’s LGBTQ+ community and promotes a society in which people in the community can live free from discrimination and experience equality and freedom; and
NOW, THEREFORE I, Vicki Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut, do hereby proclaim the month of June as LGBTQ PRIDE MONTH.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Town of Trumbull to be affixed on the 2nd day of June in the year 2023.
