[ARCHIVED] 1/08/22: Update on COVID Test Kit Distribution

COVID-19 (JPG)

1/08/22 10:45 AM Update:  COVID-19 test kit distribution this morning, Saturday, January 8, 2022,  at Trumbull High School is going quickly. The site will remain open until noon today or while supplies last.

Good Evening,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important Covid-19 home test kit update:

Yesterday, the town took delivery from the State of Connecticut of additional Covid-19 home test kits.

The town will distribute these test kits to the public this Saturday, January 8th at Trumbull High School beginning at 10 AM on a first come first serve basis. We have 3,600 kits to distribute.  The event will end as soon as all the kits are distributed.

I understand the continued frustration that not everyone will get a test kit, however this is the allocation we received from the State.  If we receive more kits, we will do another distribution to the community.

We have developed this distribution plan in consultation with the Trumbull Police Department and the Emergency Management Department.

Please listen to the following directions.

If you already received a kit in the previous distribution, please do not come to Trumbull High School on Saturday so other town residents have an opportunity to get a kit.

As there are not enough tests for every resident of our town, the primary focus is for members of the public who are immunocompromised, or have a known exposure, or are symptomatic.

You will enter the high school parking lot through the Hillcrest Middle School entrance off Daniels Farm Road. You will not be able to enter the Trumbull High School campus before 9 AM.

Please have your Trumbull ID ready to share.

In order to decrease wait times and lessen traffic congestion there will be 6 distribution lines with multiple people handing out kits and masks. The Trumbull Police Department will be directing traffic to accommodate the expected traffic volume. Nevertheless, please expect extended wait times and plan accordingly.

One kit per household will be strictly enforced

Each kit contains 2 tests and yes, this is different than the first delivery, but this is the kit the State provided to us in this allocation.

Again, we ask for your patience and understanding through the distribution process.

If there are any questions, please call the First Selectman's office at 203-452-5005. Please do not call the Health Department or Emergency Medical Services.

On another note, due to the tomorrow's expected snowstorm there will be a Parking Ban from 9 PM, tonight, until such time as plowing operations are completed on Friday. Please stay safe.

Residents who have not been vaccinated should get their COVID-19 vaccine now and can do so by visiting https://portal.ct.gov/Vaccine-Portal   For all vaccinated people 16 and older that are eligible for a booster, please get one as soon as possible. For all school-age children 5 and older that are not vaccinated yet, please use this school break to get vaccinated. Vaccination saves lives and keeps people who get COVID out of the hospital.

To locate a testing center, Search COVID-19 Test Centers by Zip Code:

Places to receive your vaccination and booster:

COVID-19 boosters are in high demand. If you have trouble finding an appointment, you can visit one of the many CT DPH mobile walk-up clinics without an appointment:  https://portal.ct.gov/vaccine-portal/DPH-Van-Clinics?language=en_US

For more information on vaccinations and boosters, visit https://portal.ct.gov/Vaccine-Portal?language=en_US

Please stay safe and stay well.

Thanks for listening.
