PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Stonewall Riots of June 28, 1969 gave birth to the international gay rights movement and galvanized the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community to fight back against increasing hostility and discrimination, and
WHEREAS, the LGBTQ community is an integral part of Connecticut’s population; and
WHEREAS, the first national monument to LGBTQ rights was dedicated in June 2016, honoring the LGBTQ community’s long-term presence and struggle for equality across our nation; and
WHEREAS, Trumbull celebrates the history and diversity of our town’s LGBTQ community and promotes a society in which all residents can live free from discrimination; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Trumbull believes that every human being has the right to live their life openly as who they are;
NOW, THEREFORE I, Vicki Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut, do hereby proclaim the month of June as, LGBTQ PRIDE MONTH
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Town of Trumbull to be affixed on the 10th day of June in the year 2021.
