Trumbull Emergency Medical Services(TEMS) is proud to partner with the Trumbull Police Department as we offer a new community youth program. This unique and dynamic program offers teens aged 14 to 21 the opportunity to gain valuable insight and hands on experience in all aspects of public safety. Education is offered in a safe and inspiring environment, with punctuality, discipline and responsibility promoted.
Members will work alongside Trumbull EMS and PD Education and Community Liaison staff learning valuable lifelong skills such as CPR, mass casualty management, tactical skills and more. The program provides many opportunities for the cadets to gain leadership, communication and team work skills. Students will complete their Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification as part of the program The Trumbull Cadets operates on a structured rank basis offering a leadership path for promotion. Cadet ranking members will plan and invite guest speakers for areas of interest as well as plan trips and activities. As a cadet’s leadership skills mature, they might have the opportunity to utilize those skills through promotion within the post. Promotion is done on a yearly basis and will consist of an interview process to help prepare cadets for future experiences.
Meetings start on February 2, 2021 and will be held every Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. They will be held at Trumbull EMS or Trumbull PD headquarters.
