Small Business Saturday 2020 Proclamation (PDF)
Small Business Saturday kicks off the 2020 holiday shopping season on Saturday, November 28. The Shop Small movement is gaining momentum as more people become aware of the impact of online shopping on local merchants. Especially during this pandemic, our small, local merchants are dependent upon residents shopping with them.
“Small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our Trumbull economy. I want to encourage everyone to visit our shops, purchase gift cards and buy local as often as possible this holiday season and every day. Buying local keeps money in our economy to generate even more benefits,” stated Tesoro.
Trumbull has a number of small businesses offering unique gift options for consumers. Curbside pickup is available at many local establishments this year. In recent years, a number of new businesses have opened in commercial centers throughout Trumbull. Many of these establishments are owned and operated by Trumbull residents. Businesses will be running holiday shopping specials to entice shoppers. Small businesses employ 47.5% of the employees in the private sector in the United States.
“Pure Poetry is located in the Madison Village Plaza, Liv’s Gifts is on Main Street, and City Line Florist has a beautiful gift selection. Residents can purchase gift cards at our restaurants and some of our fun recreational businesses like Xperiment VR in the Hawley Lane Mall, DBAT in the Trumbull Corporate Park, or Escapology on Trefoil Drive. Our Westfield Trumbull Mall has over 30 small, local business operators who can use support. Please keep all of them in mind this season,” stated Rina Bakalar, Director of Economic and Community Development for Trumbull.
