Good Evening,
This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important COVID-19 update:
The Connecticut Department of Health has created a new alert mapping system to provide additional COVID-19 information to Connecticut residents
https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus/COVID-19-Data-Tracker. This map, which is posted on the Town website, is color coded to compare positive virus rates across the State. The color red is the highest level and indicates the elevated spread of the virus in a community. Most of Connecticut is in the red zone including Trumbull.
We had 93 new positive cases this week, 54 cases last week. Our positivity rate as of yesterday was 6.2%. We have had no new deaths due to the virus. Most positive cases are people over 25 and under 60 years old.
The changes in this phase include limiting private gatherings to 10 people, reducing capacity at restaurants to 50% and establishing a closing time of 10 PM for restaurants, entertainment, and recreation venues. Attendance at sporting events and religious gatherings are also reduced.
More specific details are as follows:
The major changes that will occur under Phase 2.1 include:
- Restaurants will reduce to 50 percent capacity with a maximum of 8 people limited to a table;
- Restaurants and entertainment venues (i.e. bowling allies, movie theaters, arcades, etc.) will be required to close by 10 p.m., with the exception of food takeout and delivery services, which will be allowed to continue after 9:30 p.m.;
- Personal services, such as hair salons and barber shops, will remain at 75 percent capacity;
- Event venues will be limited to 25 people indoor, 50 people outdoor;
- Performing arts venues and movie theaters will have a capacity of 100 people; and
- Religious gatherings will be limited to 50 percent capacity or 100 people maximum.
Employers are reminded to maximize telework to the extent possible, and those over 60 and with chronic conditions are urged to remain home as much as possible.
Rina Bakalar, the town’s Economic and Community Development Director and I have been actively advocating for our local businesses including our restaurants with David Lehman, the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. We are aware of the impact that these new restrictions will have on our restaurants and we hope to see at least extended weekend hours for these businesses.
The Superintendent of Schools, along with his advisory team announced earlier today that the Trumbull Public Schools for all grades, Pre-K through 12 will move to full distance learning from Monday November 16th through Wednesday, November 25th.
Trumbull Town Hall in addition to other Town buildings, including the Library on Quality Street will remain open following the same hours of operation and procedures that have been in place for the last several months. Please check the Town website for further information.

Currently, transmission of the virus in Trumbull appears to be from small social gatherings. This is consistent to what is happening throughout the state.
I would like to remind all of our residents to remain vigilant in dealing with this virus. Please continue to practice social distancing and to wear a mask when you are unable to social distance indoors or outdoors.
Stay safe and stay well.
Thanks for listening.
