[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Isaias Update - 8/11/2020

Town of Trumbull Seal

Good Afternoon,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important storm update:

As of 12:30 this afternoon, 9 of our homes remain without power. This is less than 1%, down from 52% last Tuesday.

These remaining outages are complex and require the replacement of additional equipment.

Please be careful if you are walking outside, large branches on some trees may be weakened from the storm and could fall.

I again want to thank our town employees who worked around the clock with UI to restore power to our residents and businesses.

This past week was difficult and challenging for everyone.  I appreciate your patience during this emergency.

We will be meeting with UI representatives to discuss their response to this storm. Certainly we thank the UI workers, but changes at UI are needed prior to the next emergency. The UI website information, its interactive ability, and UI’s communication with their customers, among other issues, all need immediate attention.

As a reminder, we will begin the town-wide storm cleanup on Monday, August 17th.  The town will be divided into four quadrants and the program will start in the Whitney Ave./Daniels Farm Rd. area.

FEMA requires only storm related materials can be included in this pickup. Please place storm debris no longer than 4 feet in length neatly at the curb for pickup.

Old Mine Park (except for the trail to Whitney Avenue), Indian Ledge Park, including the playground and sprinkler park, and Tashua Pool are now reopened. Beach Pool is still closed due to no power. Twin Brooks Park remains closed.
