[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Isaias Update - 8/4/2020, 8:00 PM

Town of Trumbull Seal

Good evening, this is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important storm update.

Today’s storm had a major impact on our community. Let me give you an update based on the information I have at this time. At this point 47% of Trumbull residents are without power. Please stay in your home. Trees and wires continue to fall. Do not try and move wires by yourself, you must assume all wires are live. Do not be outside after dark or due to the live wires that have fallen. Do not allow children to play outside your streets with downed wires.

If you are running a generator, make sure it is outside in a well-ventilated area.

United Illuminating and Town officials are working diligently to make area safe and open roads. Many of our town roads are closed at this time. Once areas have been made safe, then restoration will begin.

The town camp at Trumbull High School and the town pools will be closed tomorrow to allow us to make conditions safe.

Bulk pickup will be suspended during the cleanup period. If you currently have an appointment you will be contacted by Public Works to reschedule your appointment. Due to the power outage the transfer station will be closed to the public tomorrow.

If you do not have power please call United Illuminating at 1-800-722-5584 to report the outage. If you need to report a downed tree with wires, please also call United Illuminating at 1-800-722-5584.

If you have a tree down with no wires and there is no emergency, please call the Trumbull Department of Public Works at 203-452-5071 and leave a message.

The town internet service was down so the town website is not operating at this time.

Due to the COVID crisis, local shelters are not open at this time. Residents in need can call 211. The first choice should be the shelter with family or neighbors, if possible.

We appreciate your patience. The cleanup could be a lengthy process. Please be careful and stay safe. Thanks for listening.
