[ARCHIVED] 06/30/2020 COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 (JPG)

Good Afternoon,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important update:

The Town of Trumbull will reopen most Town buildings to the public beginning tomorrow July 1st, including Town Hall, the Recreation Office, and the EMS building.

The Senior Center will remain closed. Both town libraries will also remain closed. Curbside book pickup is available at the main library on Quality Street. Transfer Station tickets will continue to be sold at the Transfer Station.

The public must have an appointment to come into any Town Buildings beginning tomorrow with the exception of the Tax Collector’s and Town Clerk’s office where walk-ins are welcome. It is strongly recommended however that tax payments continue to be made online or via the US mail in order to avoid extended wait times at Town Hall. https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/285/Online-Tax-InquiryPayment-System

On April 21, 2020, the Trumbull Town Council approved a tax deferment program for all taxpayers in Trumbull. In addition to the April 1st, 2020 tax payments this deferment also applies to the July 1st, 2020 real estate tax, sewer assessment, personal property tax, and motor vehicle tax. The last day for payment without interest is extended from August 3, 2020 to October 1, 2020. The last day for payment of the April 1st, 2020 tax payments without interest under this deferment program is July 1, 2020. https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/280/Tax-Collector

An online scheduling system to make appointments with Town departments can be found on the Town website. Please go to the home page and click on the link for "Schedule an Appointment" and follow the directions for the department you wish to visit.  Residents can always call by phone and make appointments. Please call 203 452-5000 for a directory of departments. If you are unable to locate a department, please call 203 452-5005 for assistance. https://veoci.com/veoci/p/form/4cakv8xncy7b#tab=entryForm

I want to thank our Town employees who worked remotely for the past three months, seamlessly delivering services to our town residents.

Please join us for the 9th Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence on Saturday, July 4th at 10:00 AM on the front steps of Trumbull Town Hall. Bring your family, your flags and chairs as we celebrate the birth of our nation.  This event will be recorded for viewing on Trumbull Community Television (TCTV) and live-streamed on TCTV Facebook page. This program will be canceled if it rains. https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1305

Our outdoor public pools will open on July 6th. Due to the strict health and safety protocols in place, residents must register in advance for a 2-hour swim session. Registration for the July 6th opening will begin on Thursday, July 2nd. You may also call to make a reservation during regular business hours at 203-452-5060. Voicemail and email reservation requests will not be accepted. For more information visit https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/857/Outdoor-Pool-Reservation-Information.

Summer Camp begins July 6th. Registration for the first week of camp ends tomorrow July 1st. For information about this program visit https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/camps.

Residents should have received new blue Park Stickers with their tax bills. Those with leased vehicles that are registered in Trumbull should also receive a sticker through a separate mailing. The new stickers will be enforced beginning August 1st, 2020 and will be valid until June 30, 2021. For more information about our Park Sticker program please visit https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/ParkStickers.  As with any new program we appreciate your patience as we continue to tweak the process.

A reminder residents can submit their own "Citizen Service Request" on the Town website by visiting the Community section or the Public Works page. You may submit a request for service or repairs through the Citizen Service Request Form at: https://veoci.com/veoci/p/form/wsb477d6sgsa#tab=entryForm

Trumbull has 565 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 and a total of 119 of our residents have passed away. 368 of those who tested positive have recovered or are recovering. 98 of the people who died were residents of our long term care facilities. Please keep all of these families in your thoughts and prayers.

The rate of new positive COVID-19 cases in Trumbull continues to decrease, which is good news. However, we take on more risk as we continue to open more locations and have more gatherings even with restrictions.

In accordance with the CDC guidelines and the Governor’s executive orders all residents should continue to wear face coverings especially when in grocery stores and other public locations where social distancing is not possible. This does not apply to anyone for whom doing so would be contrary to their health because of a medical condition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPx1yqvJgf4

Please stay safe and stay well.

Thanks for listening!
