Good Evening,
This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important update.
As of today we have 532 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Trumbull. 107 of our Trumbull residents have passed away. 88 of those who died, resided in our extended care facilities. 239 of the confirmed positive cases are in the extended care facilities. 343 of the people who tested positive are either recovered or recovering, and 82 were not reachable through our contact tracing process.
Please keep all of these families in your thoughts and prayers.
Our Parks and Recreation office has been working to finalize details for their summer offerings, including a modified camp program. Once approved by the Health Department we will circulate this information to the community.
On Saturday June 13th we will open the grounds of all our school properties for walking, jogging, and riding bicycles. The grounds at McDougall Stadium at the high school will remain closed. Superintendent of Schools Ralph Iassogna supports these plans.
We will also open the tennis and pickleball courts at Unity Park for play beginning June 13th. Please visit the Parks and Recreation website for details on obtaining a court permit.
As we enter Phase 2 of the Governor’s reopening on June 17th, we will reopen many of our athletic fields. Please note that many of our fields have previously, and will continue to, require a permit in order to use them. A list of all fields and their status will be available on the Parks and Recreation website. As always, we ask that our residents follow safe social distancing practices.
I will have more information regarding the Phase 2 reopening in an upcoming call. More information will also be available on the Town website regarding additional businesses, services, and recreational activities effected under the Phase 2 reopening.
