Trumbull Economic Development

First Selectman Vicki Tesoro, along with the Economic and Community Development and Planning and Zoning Departments, and Planning and Zoning Commission chairman Fred Garrity, Jr., have issued local guidelines to assist Trumbull restaurants and retail businesses to expand outdoor services. The guidelines are designed to expedite the ability to provide for additional seating and retail sales in parking lots and other areas near their locations. The expansion of outdoor areas for these businesses is intended to be temporary during the limited business reopening period.

On Tuesday, Governor Ned Lamont issued an Executive Order paving the way for local communities to assist restaurants and retail shops to consider parking lots and other areas for expansion.

Rob Librandi, Town Planner, will be the point person in Trumbull to help facilitate the expanded areas. He can be reached at 203-452-5047 or The local guidelines provide an opportunity for businesses to serve patrons in safe areas outdoors respecting strict social distancing requirements and other preventive measures.

“It is important to support our local businesses during this difficult time. We are supportive of safe ways to expand their potential revenues while they have capacity restrictions. We are cutting through any red tape and making sure the process is not onerous but protects businesses and patrons in smart ways,” stated First Selectman Tesoro.

“I am both proud and very encouraged by how proactively the First Selectman, Planning and Zoning Department, Economic and Community Development and the Planning and Zoning Commission are working together to actively support our businesses in real time during this unprecedented pandemic. We all have a vested interest in the success of our existing businesses and the future of development in “our” Trumbull,” stated Chairman Garrity.
