5/7/2020 Statement from First Selectman Vicki Tesoro
TRUMBULL GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS RECOVERY COMMITTEE
As the time to reopen Town Hall and other government facilities grows closer, I am forming the Trumbull Government Operations Recovery Committee. The purpose of this committee is to prepare a plan to reopen Town Hall and other Town facilities in an orderly and safe manner for both our employees and the public.
This committee will be charged with creating a return to work schedule for employees, protocols for the use and care of gloves, masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), rules around the use of common areas, the size and place of meetings, and other items to ensure a safe working environment. This committee will also create communications to the public to inform them of progress in restoring services and how we will protect the public when entering Town Hall buildings to do business.
There will also be well-defined procedures for public meetings and public participation in those meetings. This committee will also be responsible for setting guidelines for public activities, use of public spaces, and programs run by the Town.
Working together for this common goal is the best way to achieve an excellent result for Town employees and the public. The team I have put together has the experience and expertise needed in this challenging time.
All town departments are represented on this committee. The Committee held its first meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. George Estrada, Public Works Director and Megan Murphy, Emergency Management Director will Co-Chair this committee.
The town also has a Long-Term Disaster Recovery Committee in place as a part of our Disaster Recovery strategy. The Committee comprises town staff, volunteer members of the Economic and Community Development Commission, and other business and community stakeholders who will be added to address the nature of this type of recovery. The group will look at community-wide recovery in phases (short-, intermediate-, and long-term). It will assess unmet needs affecting individuals and businesses. It will also prioritize proposals, make recommendations to assist the community, and seek funding to support needs.
The Committee met in April and will have its next meeting at 1:00 PM on May 15, 2020. For more information on the work of this group, contact Rina Bakalar, Economic and Community Development Director at rbakalar@trumbull-ct.gov or 203-610-3899.
