[ARCHIVED] 2025-02-11: Trumbull Police Arrest Two Men For Robbery, Gun And Drug Charges At Trumbull Mall

On February 10, 2025, the Trumbull Police apprehended two men at the Trumbull Mall, 5065 Main Street, following a dispute in the parking lot. Officers arrested in connection with the dispute ELQUAN T. STONE, age 23, of 56 Evelyn Street Stratford, CT and ROGER P. JOHNSON, age 23, of 271 Jones Road Naugatuck, CT for robbery, gun, drug and other related offenses.

At approximately 8:35 PM the Trumbull Police Department received a 911 call from an individual who reported that he had been robbed at gun point. Officers arrived on scene quickly and located four people in the parking lot who, were involved in the altercation and reported the armed robbery. The officers learned that a group of acquaintances had an argument that began in the vehicle that culminated with one of the suspects threatening the other with a handgun in the parking lot. As this incident continued one of the suspects struck the other with his vehicle.

While officers were investigating this incident and questioning these individuals, they located the firearm, a black semi-automatic Springfield Armory 9mm handgun with a 15-round magazine, that had been tossed in a nearby snowbank. Officers also discovered two large bags of a green leafy substance that is suspected to be marijuana, a small bag of a white powdery substance that is suspected to be cocaine and drug paraphernalia associated with the sale of marijuana.

JOHNSON was transported to the Trumbull Police Department where he was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the first degree, Operation of a Drug Factory, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with the intent to Sell and Reckless Driving. JOHNSON was held on a $150,000 bond.

STONE, who is a convicted felon, was transported to the Trumbull Police Department where he was charged with Robbery in the first degree, Larceny in the fifth degree, Reckless Endangerment in the first degree, Criminal Possession of a Pistol, Threatening in the first degree, Illegal Possession of a Weapon in Motor Vehicle, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, and Illegal Sale/ Purchase of a Large Capacity Magazine. He was held on a $200,000 bond.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on February 19, 2025.

Trumbull Police Department Detectives were continuing the investigation to determine the owner and origins of the firearm.
