[ARCHIVED] PROCLAMATION: April 2023 is Move More Month

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, The American Heart Association promotes Move More Month every April and encourages all Americans to take part in more physical activity and to do so on a more regular basis by incorporating it into a daily routine; and 

WHEREAS, Studies have shown that walking for thirty to sixty minutes per day can drastically improve one’s health and even help prevent many different ailments; and 

WHEREAS, Each year, approximately 1.2 million Americans suffer a new and recurrent coronary attack. Cardiovascular disease is the nation’s leading cause of death; and 

WHEREAS, Walking and moving more can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and stroke, improve blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and blood lipid profile, help maintain a healthy body weight and lower the risk of obesity, enhance  mental well-being, reduce the risk of osteoporosis, reduce the risk of breast and colon cancer as well as reduce the risk of non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes; and

WHEREAS, The American Heart Association Movement calls on all citizens of Trumbull to move more for at least 30 minutes a day during the month of April. The goal is to get Americans to become more physically active. By increasing awareness of the importance of physical activity to reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease, we can save thousands of lives each year. 

NOW THEREFORE I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim the month of April 2023 as, Move More Month 

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Town of Trumbull to be affixed on the 4th day of April, 2023.
