James Henderson Appointed Internal Auditor
First Selectman Praises Selection by Trumbull Board of Finance
TRUMBULL - - James Henderson, of Waterbury, Connecticut was recently selected by the Trumbull Board of Finance to serve as the new Internal Auditor. First Selectman Timothy M. Herbst offered congratulations to Henderson and thanks to the Trumbull Board of Finance for selecting such a fine candidate. “I want to congratulate the Trumbull Board of Finance on a job well done in selecting Jim Henderson,” said Herbst. “Jim’s background in both the public and private sector is impressive. Jim understands and respects the critical function that the internal auditor can provide. This administration is committed to allowing Jim to examine every account and every aspect of our budget to identify operational efficiencies and cost containment. I believe this is a necessary and vital function for both the Town side of the budget and the Board of Education side of the budget”
Before becoming Internal Auditor, Mr. Henderson was an independent consultant to various municipalities throughout Connecticut. Before that time, Mr. Henderson was a senior accountant to a private based Farmington Company. Mr. Henderson previously served as the Business Manager for the Torrington Board of Education and as Finance Director for the Town of Middlebury, Connecticut. In Middlebury, as the Town’s Chief Fiscal Officer, Mr. Henderson was charged with developing and managing the annual operating and capital improvement budget in collaboration with the First Selectman, in addition to overseeing the appropriate application of accounting principles and practices. “As someone who has been required to review and monitor expenditures for Town departments to ensure alignment with budgeted funds, I believe Jim has the type of critical analytical skills that will serve the Town of Trumbull well. I wish him a successful tenure with the Town of Trumbull.”
Mr. Henderson holds a BS in Accounting from Post University and an Accounting Certificate from the Hartford Institute of Accounting. He also holds Business Manager Certification from the State Board of Directors of Finance for City Government.
