Chief of Trumbull Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) Leigh Goodman has announced her resignation, effective December 2, 2022. First Selectman Vicki Tesoro has appointed Andrew Weber as Interim Chief of TEMS.
Chief Goodman, who has been Chief of TEMS since January 2019, has taken a position in a hospital-based system which will allow her to reduce her work hours while offering her a more practical work-life balance. Chief Goodman reflects: “Stepping back from this role is, by far, the hardest decision I have made in my professional career. I remain ardently invested in the continued success of Trumbull EMS, our EMS providers who are the heartbeat of our organization, and the health and wellbeing of the Town of Trumbull community. I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to work alongside our team to support them during this transition.”
From November 7, 2022 until December 2, 2022, TEMS will have a transition period. During this time, Chief Goodman and Interim Chief Weber will be co-chiefs. This will allow for a seamless transition for our new leadership team.
The Town of Trumbull is embarking on a search for a new Chief of TEMS and plans on an aggressive, streamlined approach to recruiting, interviewing and onboarding our new Chief so we can continue to safely serve our community. We are confident that TEMS will continue to deliver high quality care to our residents during this transition period and into the future.
First Selectman Vicki Tesoro states, “I am extremely sad to see Leigh leave the Chief’s position, but I am thankful and proud of the great work she has done to build a strong and successful emergency medical service. TEMS is an industry-leading, award-winning progressive service that will continue to deliver stellar care to our Town. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Leigh and am confident we will continue to collaborate on initiatives that will support our community.”
Diane Mayo, Chair of the Trumbull Emergency Medical Services Commission adds, “The Trumbull EMS Commission members have all been so impressed by Chief Goodman’s performance as Chief of TEMS. We will miss her incredible leadership and we wish her all the best for the future.”
Andrew Weber, who has most recently served as the Paramedic Supervisor at TEMS, will serve as Interim Chief of TEMS until a successor is selected. “We have complete faith in Andrew Weber to step in as Interim Chief during this transition period,” stated Tesoro.
