2021-12-20 COVID-19 Update

Good Evening,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important COVID-19 update.

Omicron is a new variant of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Omicron was first detected in the United States on December 1, 2021.

The Trumbull Health Department encourages all residents to continue to take the following steps to slow the spread of the disease.

  • Get vaccinated – everyone 5 years of age and older are eligible for vaccinations.
  • Everyone 16 years and older should get a COVID-19 booster shot. You should get a booster if it has been at least two months since you received J&J or six months since you received a second shot of Pfizer or Moderna.

Learn more:

  • Wear a mask – CDC recommends everyone 2 years of age and older to wear a mask in public indoor settings.
  • Keep your distance – stay at least 6 feet away from people outside your home.
  • Wash your hands often – wash hands with soap and water for a least 20 seconds.

The Trumbull Health Department will be opening appointments for COVID vaccinations and boosters in January. All appointments need to be scheduled through VAMS:

Additional places to receive your vaccination and booster:

COVID-19 boosters are in high demand. If you have trouble finding an appointment, you can visit one of the many CT DPH mobile walk-up clinics without an appointment:

For more information on vaccinations and boosters, visit For availability of local boosters, text your ZIPCode (06611) to 438829 (GETVAX).

You can view and print your official immunization record, including proof of COVID-19 vaccination, through the CT WiZ Public Portal. Please use this link or visit the Town website for additional information.

I want to encourage residents to consider utilizing two of our town programs designed to support our community and our businesses.

Our Local Meals Program provides residents in Trumbull who have been impacted by COVID-19 in some way or who have a need within their families, to order meals off the menu of our participating local restaurants. Please contact the Trumbull Human Services Department at 203-452-5198 to learn more about the program.

The Trumbull Main Street Dollars Program runs through January 31, 2022. Through a generous corporate grant we have 500 certificates in $10 increments to issue to Trumbull residents. Certificates can be used at three Trumbull businesses that provide local gift buying options (Plasko's Farm, City Line Florist and Pure Poetry). Each resident is eligible for up to 2 certificates on a first come, first serve basis. A customer must spend a minimum of $20 dollars at a participating business in order to apply the certificate. Certificates can be picked up at the Trumbull Senior Center or at the Economic and Community Development Office in Town Hall during business hours.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a happy and healthy New Year!

Please stay well!

Thanks for listening!
