TRUMBULL CELEBRATES LOCAL is an initiative from First Selectman Vicki Tesoro, the Trumbull Office of Economic and Community Development and the Economic and Community Development Commission designed to bring greater visibility and patronage to the array of restaurants and eateries in Trumbull. As part of TRUMBULL CELEBRATES LOCAL, Trumbull not-for-profits have selected weeks during which their members and supporters will step out to patronize the town’s eateries.
“Last year’s Restaurant Week was a success. But due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, our restaurants and businesses need support every week, not just one. We appreciate our not-for-profits stepping up to encourage their members to support our small businesses,” stated Vicki Tesoro.
Rina Bakalar, Director of Economic and Community Development said, “Over the years, our restaurants and eateries have stood behind our town’s not-for-profits and schools by providing sponsorships and donating auction items or gift cards. Now these restaurant owners and workers need that support returned.” We wish to thank the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce, which already participated in this event, from August 31 to September 6. Upcoming confirmed dates and groups, to date, include:
- TRUMBULL COMMUNITY WOMEN – Mon., Sept. 28 – Sun., Oct. 4
- TRUMBULL ROTARY CLUB – Mon., Oct. 5 – Sun., Oct. 11
- LONG HILL GARDEN CLUB – Monday, Oct. 26 – Sun. Nov. 1
Each group’s members are asked to do what makes them comfortable – a sit-down meal on an outside patio, a take-home dinner, or buying a bagel, ice cream, or coffee to go. The restaurants and eateries are not offering special price promotions during the weeks.
The Trumbull Senior Center is also promoting TRUMBULL CELEBRATES LOCAL to its members from Monday, September 21- Sunday, September 27, 2020.
Trumbull has thirty eateries in town, including those at the Westfield Trumbull Mall. These venues include delis, ice cream and coffee shops, stylish sit-down and casual take out restaurants. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is available in a variety of cuisines from Asia, Italy, Mexico, the Middle East, and the United States. Visit Trumbullrestaurantweek.com to see a list.
TRUMBULL CELEBRATES LOCAL also includes increased social media promotion and a series of Trumbull business tours and videos that will be publicized and promoted in support of the small business community.
