Summer Reading Program
Tails & Tales: Summer Reading 2021
June 19 - August 15
Once upon a time on a beautiful day in June, you decide to take a walk in the forest alone. As you wander along the path, you spot a fluffy white cat. The cat meows at you, so you stop and pet his head. POOF! You feel yourself shrink and sprout fur. The cat runs off and you run home.
When you arrive home, it takes a lot of meow-ing and hissing, but eventually your family realizes that the cat standing in their living room is YOU!
It’s okay though. Being a cat is fun! Sort of. After a few days though, you miss human food, like pizza and ice cream. You miss hanging out with your friends. You miss having thumbs and being able to speak!
Your family takes you to the witch that lives in town and asks her to turn you back into a human. The witch gazes at you suspiciously. She doesn’t believe you were really once a human! You have the next eight weeks of summer to prove you really are a kid by reading and completing other fun human activities. Once you complete enough, the witch will turn you back.
Good luck! If you need help turning the pages of the books you read, I’m sure your family will help…
(For ages 0-5. Children aged 5 can choose between Pre-readers and Independent Readers, but can only participate in one.)
Sunday, August 15 is the last day to log your reading, complete activities, and purchase raffle tickets.
