Register for the Summer Reading Program by visiting our READsquared Summer Reading Website. You will automatically be assigned a program based on your age unless you are 5 or 12 years old. Five-year-olds can choose between Pre-readers and Independent Readers. Twelve-year-olds can choose between Independent Readers and the Teen program.

Participant data has been deleted, so you will have to create a new username and password even if you participated last summer.

Family registration is available. When you register, click on Myself + Others. Adults must choose 19+ from the drop down menu and enter the information required. Every child must be registered separately, but you can use the same email address, username, and password for the entire family, even if you have multiple kids in different programs.

Independent Readers

Ages 5-12.

There are three different ways to earn points this summer:

  • Log Your Reading: All reading counts, including graphic novels and audiobooks! Earn 20 points for every 20 minutes read. Every 20 points can be redeemed for 20 Library Dollars, which can be used at the Prize Store. You can earn up to 1,120 Library Dollars by reading up to 8 hours and 40 minutes. If you read more than 9 hours, the extra points earned can be used toward the purchase of raffle tickets.
  • Write a Book Review: Every book review you write is worth 10 points. You can earn up to 100 points (or 100 Library Dollars) by writing up to 10 reviews.
  • Complete a Mission: Earn 10 points for each completed mission. The weekly missions are the library scavenger hunts and random acts of kindness. There is also a list of 10 genres/categories. Read a book that fits each genre/category to earn points for a maximum of 100 points (or 100 Library Dollars).

Each raffle ticket is worth 60 points. Purchase raffle tickets on the READsquared website using points you earn. Prizes in the Prize Store are worth different Library Dollar amounts. Prizes must be purchased in the library using Library Dollars.

Pre-readers

Ages 0-5.

There are two different ways to earn points this summer:

  • Log Your Reading: Record the number of minutes someone reads out loud to you. Don’t forget to count library storytimes and audiobooks. You don’t have to include the title of the book, but include it if you want a list of books you’ve read at the end of the summer.
  • Complete a Mission: Earn 10 points for each completed mission. There are 4 categories: Write, Sing, Play, and Talk. These are four of the five early literacy activities adults can do with their children to help them get ready to read (Read is the fifth activity.) You can also complete Scavenger Hunts at the library to earn points.

Each raffle ticket is worth 30 points. Purchase raffle tickets on the READsquared website using points you earn. Prizes in the Prize Store are worth different Library Dollar amounts. Prizes must be purchased in the library using Library Dollars.

Sunday, August 14 is the last day to log your reading, complete activities, and purchase raffle tickets.
