What We Do
The Zoning Board of Appeals has monthly public hearings on petitions for Special Exceptions variances of the zoning regulations and appeals from orders of any official, who is charged with enforcement of the zoning regulations.
Town Charter Description
Chapter VII Section 6. Zoning Board of Appeals.
A. Composition and election. The Town shall have a Zoning Board of Appeals, which shall consist of five regular members and three alternate members. Each of the regular members shall be elected for a term of five years. Each of the alternate members shall be appointed by the Town Council to serve for a term of three years. The term of one regular member and one alternate member shall expire each year.
B. Powers and duties. The Zoning Board of Appeals shall have all the powers and duties conferred or imposed by law on zoning boards of appeals. The Zoning Enforcement Officer appointed by the Planning and Zoning Commission shall act as zoning enforcement officer for the Zoning Board of Appeals.
